Backtesting your gold edge without lying to yourself

A practical routine to replay XAUUSD sessions, log evidence and know whether your strategy deserves real capital.

XAUUSD education

Most traders backtest to confirm what they already believe. A good backtest is designed to disprove you.

Fix the rules first

Write your entry, stop and target rules before replaying a single candle. Changing them mid-test invalidates the sample. If the idea is an Asia breakout, use the written rules in the Asian range breakout strategy rather than a new version each session.

Collect enough evidence

Thirty trades is a starting point, not a conclusion. Tag every trade by session and setup so patterns can surface. Bar replay is the practice format; this note is the standard for honesty while you do it.

Risk disclaimer: Leveraged XAUUSD trading can cause the loss of some or all of your capital. This article is education, not investment advice, and TradYX does not place trades or hold funds.
